- 381 sq ft
- Including waste
- 438 sq ft

The math behind it: Wallpaper
rolls = (wall area - doors - windows) x (1 + waste) / coverage per roll, rounded up
A 12 ft by 15 ft room with 8 ft walls, one door and two windows has 381 square feet to cover. Adding 15% for pattern matching and trimming brings that to 438 square feet, which is 8 rolls at 56 square feet each.
Common questions
How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
Work out the wall area, subtract the doors and windows, add 15% for waste and divide by the coverage of one roll. A typical bedroom needs about 8 double rolls.
How much does one roll of wallpaper cover?
A standard double roll, and most European rolls, cover about 56 square feet. Always check the label, because roll sizes vary.
How much extra wallpaper should I buy?
10% for plain papers and 15% to 25% for large repeating patterns, since each strip has to be shifted to line up with the last.
